The second collection by Robert Kupisz – for winter 2012/2013 – was inspired by the poetry of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, and it referred to the Warsaw Uprising, its young heroes and its symbolism. Robert Kupisz called his collection “Heroes”, and the t-shirts bearing an eagle that are part of that collection have become objects of desire fo many young Poles.

Robert Kupisz said: “Over two years ago I showed my collection called “Heroes”, inspired by the pictures of the insurgents in the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The pictures of young insurgents, which I saw during my visit, impressed me, and I carried them in my heart. I had never before seen such beautiful and noble young faces engraved with the tragedy and ruthlessness of war. It was a very deep experience for me. More or less at the same time, at the Film Festival in Gdynia, I met Jan Komasa, who got an offer to direct a movie about the Warsaw Uprising. It was an incredible coincidence that we had both begun to work on a similar topic. It seems to me that nobody knows ,and nobody will never know, the answer to the question about the validity of Warsaw Uprising, but the courage and nobility of those young people should never be questioned.”

Black and white t-shirts featuring an eagle will be available on 1st September, only in selected Empik stores, in sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. The”Miasto 44 by QПШ Robert Kupisz” collection will be complemented with more cotton scarves. The t-shirts will cost 79.99 zł and the scarves 99.99 zł.

The special showing of “Miasto 44” will take place at the National Stadium in Warsaw, as part of the official celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

“Miasto 44”, the new, high-budget film by Jan Komasa, the creator of the multi-award winning cinema blockbuster “Suicide Room”, is a film project with  scenographic, costume and visual flourish unprecedented in Poland. The consultant on special effects was Hollywood specialist Richard Bain. More than 3,000 extras were present on the set, which was created by ten different teams using 5,000 tonnes of rubble to recreate the devastated Warsaw of 1944. The cast was selected in a series of all-Poland castings, in which more than 7,000 thousand people participated.

“Miasto 44” is in cinemas on 19th September, 2014.
