The project will take place in four locations: Jelenia Gora, Karpacz, Szklarska Poreba and Swieradów Zdroj. ” We are very pleased to be among organizers and to host the Olympic Village.” – said Marcin Zawila, Mayor of Jelenia Gora.
Competition participants in the Winter Games will be held in 10 disciplines within the following towns:
• Cross-country skiing : Szklarska Poreba – Jakuszyce
• Biathlon: Szklarska Poreba – Jakuszyce
• Alpine Skiing: Karpacz
• Carving: Karpacz
• Snowboarding: Karpacz
• Luge: Karpacz
• Short –track: Jelenia Gora or Jabłoniec
• Ice Hockey: – Swidnica
• Skating Track: Jelenia Gora or Jabłoniec
• Nordic walking: Jelenia Gora / Szklarska Poreba / Karpacz
The total cost of the organization is approximately 1.4 million zł, of which about 400 thousand is to be supplied by the province dolnoslaskie, with the remaining costs being covered by participants’ contributions or grants, the Senate, and from the ministry of sport . The City of Jelenia Gora is providing roughtly 120 thousand; and Szklarska Poreba and Karpacz will provide 50 thousand each – said a spokesman for the City of Jelenia Gora Cezary Wiklik.
– “For us, the Olympic Games are a great way to promote Poland to the world – said Marcin Zawila, President of Jelenia Gora. – And this is the most effective way because it directly relates to the guests who have come here previously that are emotionally linked to the Polish. So this event will hopefully entice large groups of friends and family to return to Poland on other occasions“.
In Szklarska Poreba, the events held will include cross-country skiing and the biathlon. Karpacz will host events such as carving, sledding and snowboarding, and ice hockey In Swidnica.
“It is not impossible” – said President M. Zawila – “the two competitions will be held in the Czech city of Jablonec. This would be the Track & skating and short-track. This decision has not been made, but even if the organization will deal with the Czechs, it would be the promotion of the Karkonosze, from the point of view of visitors from the U.S, Canada and Australia that it is an undivided area . Nordic walking will be held In Jelenia Gora. This will be probably the first big event, which is set in motion at different locations. I want proof that we’re able to share in most of the promotion, which has so far proved to be extremely difficult. Our Jeleniogórskie hotels will probably be full during the event, and I think that hoteliers and caterers will seek gains in their own way. The guests were depart from here with the best memories possible and will remember where they stayed and the quality of service. We – as Jelenia Gora – will be the organizers of the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which in the promotional point of view is very important. Just to remind you that the beginning of the Games falls at a time when tourism ” toads ” because the winter holidays season ends. This is a good time for such an event for all sorts of reasons.”
The newness of the XI Winter Olympic of Polish Communities will be able to take part in the XXXVIII Piast Race, which will take place from 28.02 – 03.02.2014 in Szklarska Poreba and Jakuszyce .
