Yorkshire is home to over 55,000 immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe, and the upcoming Rotherham European Business Festival aims to assist local companies and individuals connect with this growing community.

The Rotherham European Business Festival, taking place at the New York Stadium, Rotherham 7-8th October 2014, aims to build business connections between our region and Eastern & Central Europe. The event is being hosted by Yorkshire Tourist Organization Limited, a social enterprise with a mission to promote Yorkshire to Central & Eastern Europe across business and tourism.

Mario Staniurski, Chairman YTO stated, “Yorkshire is a great place to do business. We have here a strong community of immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe who have recognized that it is also a great place to live. Many immigrants are well qualified, skilled and are looking to run their own business here in the UK. “

One of the aims of the Festival is to connect these individuals with local businesses and organisations that can support then in following their dreams and growing their businesses. According to Martin Oxley, Director of UKTI in Warsaw, there are over 40,000 businesses run by Polish immigrants in the UK. This presents a significant opportunity.

We also will be looking to assist local businesses connect with people from Central and Eastern Europe to assist them in expanding their businesses into new markets.” adds Staniurski.

The Festival Expo (Day 1 – 7th October ’14) will allow local businesses to showcase their services as well as organisations from across Central and Eastern Europe looking for local business partners to introduce their wares. The day will be capped off with a Gala Networking Dinner allowing further contact building.

The festival also presents the opportunity for local companies to tap into a skilled and educated immigrant workforce renowned for their strong work ethic.

The Festival Seminars (Day 2 – 8th October ’14) allows individuals to gain information and insight on building their business and the benefits of doing so in Yorkshire. A second stream will deliver advice on entering the voluntary sector or establishing a social enterprise, further driving prosperity in the Yorkshire region.
