Saturday’s inaugural meeting of Pangea Alliance in Belvedere restaurant was attended by many young Polish professionals living on the West Coast, who are creative, full of ideas and willing to act. They discussed about the activities and projects of Pangea Alliance, as well as plans for the near future and possibilities to become involved in local and international activities of the organization. The special guest of this event was Krzysztof Przybył ,the president of the Foundation “Teraz Polska” and Marta Lefik, the president of Pangea Alliance. The entire meeting and discussion was moderated by Grzegorz Fryc, the vice president of Pangea Alliance, who having inaugurating the opening of a new office in Denver, said “Let us rejoice the fact that Pangea is opening an another office in such important place like Denver, Colorado, which is rich in Polish traditions. The mining and geological capital of the United States is a home to many prominent Polish professionals, who want to act, integrate and create projects with their peers in USA and around the world. We believe that Pangea under the leadership of Katarzyna Żak will give them that chance to become a positive motivator, which will not only encourage young Poles to act, but will also help them to develop in the fields of business, politics and profession”.

The next point of weekend events in Denver was the celebration of the National Independence Day, which took place in the Polish Club. The event gathered a numerous group of local Polish community along with the Honorary Consul Tomasz Skotnicki and special guests who came to Denver for the ceremony: Krzysztof Przybył, the president of “Teraz Polska”, Marta Lefik, the president of Pangea Alliance and Grzegorz Fryc, the vice president of Pangea Alliance. The organizers of this event prepared a very interesting program for the visitors. The more points were the distinction of Krystyna Orłowska with the Sybir Deportee Cross, which was handed over by Honorary Consul Thomas Skotnicki and award of Outstanding Pole Statuette to Dr. Jan Krason – the most prominent Polish geologist. While receiving the award from the president of the Foundation “Teraz Polska” – Krzysztof Przybył, dr Jan Krasoń gave a very touching and inspiring speech in which, among other things, encouraged the young generation of Poles to continue their education and develop their professional skills. He also urged parents to support young people in their efforts to educate.

An official nomination for the position of regional director of Pangea Alliance was given to Katarzyna Żak during the ceremony.

This uplifting and very positive atmosphere was completed by the performances of children from the Polish School in Denver, including a performance of “Krakowiaki” – causing a smile to each of the participants.

American Polonia once again demonstrated how to unite during the Independence Day, how to spend it in a friendly and positive way. While thanking the organizers of the event, for preparing of such a successful celebration, dr Jan Krasoń said: “I thank the management of Polish Club in Denver for reminding us, who remember the years of the occupation and the communist regime, that such important National Day could not be celebrated at that time. I am also grateful that through the celebration of this day and its importance for Polish history, people, who didn’t live at that time or were too young to remember, are made aware of those tragic years, which were very difficult for thousands of our fellow countrymen.

Furthermore, whereas the especially important ceremony, I personally think it appropriate to take this opportunity to draw attention to the fact that even though we live in these great United States of America, we are representatives of our common Motherland Poland and therefore we celebrate here and should celebrate our national holidays, because at these and any other occasions Americans are watching us and create respective opinions about us and Poland”.
