Globalization is not just a concept, it is an opportunity for business to create new jobs and maintain the economic growth – argued participants of the conference “Globalization of Polish foreign policy – Poland outside Europe.” This was the second event organized this year by Polish Infomation and Foreign Investment Agency during the European Economic Congress in Katowice.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), four European Union Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament, dozens of ministers and deputy ministers from all over the world, CEOs of some of the largest companies as well as experts and businessmen will all meet at the 7th European Economic Congress (EEC) in Katowice.

According to recent KPMG survey entitled “European Family Business Barometer”, conducted among family businesses in seventeen European countries, those type of companies find their economic situation as very good. They are also planning new investments and said that there are no problems with the access to financing new projects. However, the access to the labour market seems to be the biggest challenge for the family business while the most expected change is simplification of tax law.

Kraków again is the best European city in terms of global outsourcing destinations. According to The Tholons Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations 2015, Kraków, for the second year in the row, has won number “one” position in Europe and the world’s 9th best city regarding outsourcing services.

On 12 January Polish Infomation and Foreign Investment Agency held the conference on investment incentives in the food sector. “Polish companies entering global market should cooperate with each other to reduce both: costs and the risk”, argued deputy minister of Economy Ilona Antoniszyn – Klik. “Now, the sector should also concentrate on developing competitive & innovative projects instead of selling products cheaper abroad”, she argued.

Poland has a potential to become a leader of innovation of the Visegrad Group (V4) – this is the main conclusion of the report “Emerging Innovation Leader of the Visegrad Group”, prepared by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The report describes two Polish cities – Warsaw and Kraków as the most innovative centres in the V4 region, due to the impressive number of scientists and engineers who work there.

“The fact that Polish apples have entered the Singaporean market is no doubt a success. Singapore imports 90 percent of its food, and is interested in diversifying its supplies; Polish apples can hold their own in the local market on account of their price and quality,” Poland’s Ambassador to Singapore, Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz, said after the first batch of Polish apples arrived in this Asian city state.

A new World Bank Country Economic Memorandum (CEM), entitled “Poland: Saving for Growth and Prosperous Aging”, has been issued. Its authors focus on how to ensure that Poland’s strong economic growth is sustained in the medium and long run.
