The competition is divided into two categories. In the first category, the jury will assess articles written in Lithuanian concerning three important anniversaries celebrated in Poland in 2014: 25th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, 15th anniversary of Poland accession to NATO and 10th anniversary of Poland joining the EU.

The competition’s second category is open to contributors who want to write an article connected with Poland. It could deal with famous Poles, Polish culture, science, traditions or history.

Prizes will go to those contributors who will add the most content to the existing data base on Poland.

“Paradoxically, knowledge about Poland, a neighboring country, is still insufficient in Lithuania, as evidenced by the very few pieces of information about Poland that are found on the Lithuanian Wikipedia. We hope that thanks to our competition, it will fill with articles on Poland and enlarge Lithuanians’ knowledge about our country,” says Jaroslav Czubinski, Poland’s Ambassador in Vilnius.

The jury will assess both the content and the form of the articles that should conform to Wikipedia editing rules, and be free of spelling, grammatical or stylistic errors. The competition is open to persons of legal age who can send in their articles until 31st October 2014.

The main prizes in both categories are trips for two persons to one of the following Polish cities: Warsaw, Krakow or Gdansk.
