This April, the leading Polish alternative rock band ‘happysad’ will visit Liverpool as part of their international tour, promoting their new album ‘Jakby nie bylo jutra’ (‘If there was no tomorrow’). The band will perform on the 9th of April 2015, in the East Village Arts Club at 8pm, proudly hosted by Merseyside Polonia, the local Polish community organisation successfully developing positive relations between the Polish and local residents. It is the perfect chance to experience the group’s distinct vibe and encounter first-hand the best of the Polish alternative rock scene.

The contemporary Polish music stage may not lack rock bands, however, the alternative ‘regressive-rock’ group happysad are decisively at the forefront. With quirky, considered lyrics and and a melodic sound with emphasis on guitar, the group have worked hard to reach superstar status in their native Poland. This year Merseside Polonia are giving local audiences the chance to experience this musical wonder first-hand.

The recent record is intimate and deeply emotional, experimental in sound with more synthetic electronic additions and more complex song structures as signs of their artistic development.

Despite being categorised as post-punk, happysad deny subscribing to any ideology promoted by music genres. Instead, they remain focused on the music itself and with little desire to fix the world, they look to the everyday life for inspiration. What matters to them, is that they produce music faithful to their style and songs that will reach appreciative listeners. In fact, happysad are a difficult one to categorise, and their work is not quite comparable to any other modern band.

happysad hold three Gold Record Awards, and a Platinum award of a live tour DVD received in Poland. So far, they have played more than 750 concerts and continue to fill up venues nationally and abroad.

The concert is part of a larger tour, organised and managed by Patryk Pirus from Lemon Mosquito.

The event is a second one of its kind, after Merseyside Polonia’s most recent, incredibly sucessful, sold-out concert of Czeslaw Spiewa Solo Act. It was an exciting night, where everyone had a great time and happysad is looking to be equally as delightful, on an even larger scale housed by The East Village Arts Club.
