The Salone Internazionale del Mobile, which gathers exhibitors from over 150 countries in an exhibition area of 230 000 square meters, is considered by many as the most important design event in the world. During the fair, Milan lives for design and various parts of the city host presentations of design artists, producers, festivals and competitions from around the globe in the framework of the “Fuori Salone” cycle.

The programme of this year’s fair, organized since 1961, includes “Polish Job,” an exhibition which shows the international audience Polish contemporary design, which is based on local tradition and respect for the past and, at the same time, is looking with courage into the future and using innovative solutions. The highlight of the exhibition, organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and its portal Culture.pl, involves workshops during which visitors can 3D print thumbnails of selected exhibits.

The Milan fair will also feature the first display of the “You.Me.Design” collection by Comforty, a Polish brand, founded by Tomasz Augustyniak, Tomasz Rygalik and Dorota Koziara. Works of the latter will be also on display at her Studio Gallery in Milan.

Owing to the support of the Polish Consulate General in Milan, the audience will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the achievements of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław and its Studio of Means of Transport Design. Academy graduates often become lead designers at large world famous automotive companies.

In addition to a multimedia presentation about the Academy of Art and Design, the Milan fair will also show a presentation of the city of Wrocław as the European Capital of Culture 2016.
