This year’s edition of “Teraz Polska Promocja” competition gathered 111 master’s thesis. They were devoted mainly to promoting Poland from the tourism point of view, its cities, regions and products, Poland’s image in the world and the instruments that could improve it, good practices in promoting Poland, investment attractiveness of various places as well as Polish economy’s innovativeness compared to other countries within EU. The authors of best theses could win the total money award of approx. 50,000 PLN. This year there were 13 laureates.

– Promoting Poland requires contact support from various reports and analyses as well as a fresh and professional perspective of young, well-educated and enthusiastic people. Among the submitted theses we find more and more very good ones that even surprise us with how the subject is treated, the authors’ competence, the knowledge of research methodology and the ability to conduct reliable research, as well as the skill to analyse and synthesise – says Doctor Jarosław Górski from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Warsaw University, the head of “Teraz Polska Promocja” Qualification Committee.

The chapter chaired by Professor Alojzy Nowak, Vice-President of the Warsaw University, awarded the main prize to the thesis entitled The evaluation of the investment attractiveness of cities in Central and Eastern Europe from the perspective of offshoring processes by Bartosz Mikołaj Sobczak, a graduate from the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk. His thesis presents a multi-layered evaluation of the investment attractiveness of 27 cities that joined EU after 2004.

The gala was accompanied by the Leaders of the Future debate called “Has Poland given me wings?” The discussion was attended by such people as Joanna Erbel (a city sociologist, a politician), Kamila Sidor (Geek Girl Carrots), Leszek Jażdżewski (Liberte!) and Dariusz Żuk (Polska Przedsiębiorcza). Both the conference and the gala attracted mainly young people, whose passion and knowledge will shape Poland and its image in the future.

The competition was launched in 2007 under the Ministry of Economy’s patronage and at the initiative of The Polish Promotional Emblem Foundation “Teraz Polska”, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and University of Warsaw. Its first editions were devoted strictly to promoting Polish economy abroad. After eight years there are 30 institutions involved in the competition – ministries, government agencies, universities, companies and media. Until now there have been 534 master’s theses from several public and private universities across Poland submitted.

The winners of the 8th edition of the contest “Teraz Polska Promocja” are: Bartosz Mikołaj Sobczak, Barbara Urszula Kania and Kalina Justyna Pasek.

The special awards went to: Monika Michalina Gandecka, Karol Wojciech Kułaga, Małgorzata Bożena Klimkowska, Alicja Maria Gadziałowska, Karina Madera, Oskar Augustynowicz, Ewelina Szłapa, Katarzyna Małgorzata Słoma, Kinga Ceglecka and Ksenia Majewska.
