The Polonium Foundation connects Polish researchers all around the world to build a community that fosters collaboration, exchange of ideas and knowledge.

The founders of the Polonium Foundation, spent past few years organising the Science: Polish Perspectives (SPP) Conference: an annual popular-science event where outstanding young Polish students and scientists showcase their research. The enormous potential of the community that has grown around those meetings is evident. Hence in 2016 they have established the Polonium Foundation to take the idea of connecting Polish researchers diaspora to the next level.

The Foundation connects Polish researchers of all disciplines, working in academia and industry, all around the world. It creats a community that fosters collaboration, exchange of ideas, sharing of knowledge. The founders of the Polonium Foundation believe that by doing so, they can turn Poland’s brain drain into brain circulation.

They feel that to create a living community, it is needed more than just one annual event. Thus, they organise SPP Meetups in various parts of the world, study the community they are creating, and encourage good science communication practices.

Science: Polish Perspectives (SPP)

SPP is a series of events directed at young researchers, PhD students and undergraduates of Polish origin, conducting their research at universities and institutes outside of Poland. This year they are meeting in Cambridge at the SPP Conference 2017 and at SPP Meetups in Berlin!

Take part in a first German version of the “Science: Polish Perspectives” Meetup – this autumn in Berlin!

SPP Meetup Berlin is an interdisciplinary science conference that aims to gather Polish scientists from all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland to meet in Berlin. For two days, researchers, PhD students and science-oriented entrepreneurs will be presenting their projects, exchanging experiences and networking. You are very welcome to join no matter if you recently came to Germany, were born here, simply feel connected to Poland or are just interested in “the Polish Perspectives” on science and business. Science: Polish Perspectives 2017 – Cambridge

This year SPP is moving back to Cambridge, where will host over 250 bright scientific minds.

During two day, 3-4 Nov 2017 at St John’s College, University of Cambridge you can listen to renowned professors and aspiring young researchers talking about interesting things they do and why they do it. You can learn new things, meet inspiring people, make new friends and scientific collaborations. This year you will be able to enrol also in one of (at least!) three unique workshops and two panel discussions. Join in and share your opinion about topics including Polish science, technology transfer, innovative research and perspectives of career development in Poland and abroad.

Also, this year the Fitzwilliam College will be hosting the biggest SPP dinner so far. Have fun and make new friends – sometimes the best (scientific) ideas come up over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine!
