Play Poland’s annual poster is our way of honouring the artists as well as the art of poster making. Each year, a different artist – often someone admired and well known – designs a poster for us with our logo as the central point, retaining the message from the symbol – Play Poland – while utilising their own aesthetic, individual style and interpretation. So far, the effects of this project have been amazing, which is why we decided to continue it this year.

In 2015, we asked the students of Sławomir Witkowski from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk to design a poster with our logo on it. The Professor set the stakes higher by posing an additional challenge to the students. From an initial pool of works, five were chosen, which will be used in our promotional campaign. The four logos will appear on posters, leaflets, banners, in our programme, on our website and on Facebook. Moreover, one of the designs will become the main theme in the promotional events accompanying the festival.

The students’ works, although completely different from one another, retained the message of Play Poland, but reinterpreted it in original way. Therefore, outside of the exhibition of old masters as part of this year’s edition, we will also exhibit the best student posters.

The vernissage will be held at the Edinburgh Filmhouse, on 22nd October 2015.
