This honourable distinction is an effect of Urszula Dudziak’s outstanding work and commitment to promote women’s rights, cultural diversity and artistic education in line with ideas and priorities behind UNESCO’s mission. During today’s meeting with the artist, Deputy Minister Artur Nowak-Far noted that her work has greatly contributed to “improving Poland’s visibility within the organisation, expanding the area of cooperation and common interest, and increasing possibilities to influence public opinion on matters that fall under UNESCO’s competences.”

Urszula Dudziak said that she would continue to promote women’s rights. “This beautiful award perfectly corresponds with the idea that peace and reconciliation need to be built from scratch, which is so close to my heart,” stressed the artist. “It will motivate me to continue my mission and spread the message that the power of life is crucial to all of us, at every stage and every moment of our lives.”

“Artist for Peace” is an international programme initiated in 1995 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). It brings together artists who have distinguished themselves by their efforts to promote peace, reconciliation between the nations, and tolerance.

World Orchestra for Peace, Céline Dion (Canada), Sarah Brightman (UK), Marcus Miller (USA), Danilo Pérez (Panama), Marina Nicolesco (Romania), Eijin Nimura (Japan), Jordi Savall (Spain), Zaha Hadid (UK), Gong Li (China), and many others, have been honoured with the UNESCO Artist for Peace title so far.
