You too can become the Pole of the year

The second edition of the elections for Pole of the year in the Netherlands is another excellent opportunity to show achievements of Poles living and working in the country of tulips. The Poles, who can be an example to follow.

The Pole of the year elections mobilize and show the opportunities which can seem unattainable for many people. They are also an attempt to integrate Polish people, to create a group of distinguished representatives, successful people and finally, to build a positive image of Poles in the Netherlands.

What conditions have to be met to become the Pole of the year?

A candidature for Pole of the Year is put forward by Polish organizations or groups of individuals. Submission of candidatures take place in accordance with the contest regulations. Elections are held in five categories: business, science and technology, culture, the young successful Pole and, importantly, the Honorary Polonus – an award for a Dutch individual or organization which has made an outstanding contribution to the integration of Polish people.

The finalists for each category are selected by the Chapter, which consists of representatives of the Polish community, and is led by Barbara Borys-Damięcka – Senator of the Republic of Poland. Simultaneously, Internet users can vote online, and that way decide which of the candidates will receive the audience’s award. During this year’s ceremony we will have the pleasure to participate in a concert of outstanding Polish artists – Kayah and Marcin Wyrostek with Coloriage.

Will we repeat last year’s success?

The organizers of the event – Polish–Dutch cultural Association (PNKV), Association of Polish–Dutch Entrepreneurs (VPNO), and Otto Work Force (also a sponsor of the event) – have made a great effort to repeat last year’s success of the 2012 Pole of the Year elections. We appreciate the involvement of the numerous volunteers, without whom the success of the event would not be possible.

Last year more than 1200 people participated in the ceremony and more than 20 000 Internet uses gave their vote online. This proves the high rank of the event and a new quality of relations between the communities of Poles living in the Netherlands.

We are looking forward to an exciting evening full of competition and artistic experience. We hope that the second edition of the elections for Pole the Year will achieve success thanks to the cooperation between all of us – Poles and people of Polish origin living in the Netherlands.
