An exhibition by Warsaw’s Centre of Architecture is a highlight of this year’s festival, which is located at the Prague Castle in the Hradcany district.
“During the previous editions, we mainly boasted Polish public architecture and cultural infrastructure investments of the past few years. This year, we have decided to show that Polish architects don’t only work on huge, spectacular projects but also focus on dwelling houses that are both beautiful and functional,” says Agnieszka Kwiatkowska, Deputy Director of the Polish Institute in Prague.
The exhibition’s curators have found a fresh and innovative way of presenting what they consider “the most interesting of the most functional” detached houses built in Poland in the past few years. Projects by such architects as Robert Konieczny or Medusa Group have been presented in the form of scale models and photos taken by Juliusz Sokołowski, an eminent architecture photographer. The exhibition, located at the Convent of St. George, one of the Prague Castle’s buildings, will run until 12 October.
“Works by the most distinguished Polish architects are on display at the Prague Castle, while the Polish Institute’s Gallery shows projects by architecture students, not only from Poland but also from other V4 countries and Slovenia,” says Ms Kwiatkowska. The latter exhibition is titled Contemporary Cottage House As Seen by Young Architects. It includes works selected in a competition organised by the Foibos publishing house in cooperation with Gliwice’s Silesian University of Technology. The projects will be displayed at the Polish Institute until 17 October.
