Which artist will be shown during Long Summer Shadow Opening ?

Justyna Kisielewicz, is a Polish native and a California based painter. Her paintings are cheeky, trendy cool and popping with clever and lively unexpected colors. Kisielewicz’s paintings are filled with references to modern pop culture and inspired by the tradition of American and European aesthetics. She has been celebrated by international fashion and lifestyle magazines, as the “pop culture obsessed” “rebellious artist from Poland” and as the “princess of pop culture”. Her artistic style and subject matter is non-repetitive, however, it is consistent and sexy. She freely uses inspirations, words and symbols that are subconsciously rooted in the eye of the viewer through culture. She is the master of color and sublime technical expression. Kisielewicz’s work is uniquely self-referential and emotionally honest.

Diana Tremaine’s dynamic oil paintings are autobiographical, yet simultaneously universal, reflecting a search for meaning in the human experience. They often focus on family and children at play, and bridge figuration, representation, and still life. Their complex surfaces convey a history by layering and eliminating in a push-pull fashion to reveal what is most essential, evoking collective memories like ghosts of what once was.

Master watercolorist Gary Bukovnik fuses sensual vitality with fluid yet powerful colorations, creating floral images of great depth, intensity, and size. Internationally exhibited and celebrated worldwide, Bukovnik’s iconic works are an homage to the pleasantries of beauty, itself.

Steeped in the Bay Area Figurative movement, Mary Robertson’s oeuvre focuses on Northern California’s Russian River and its beaches, floats, and figures. Yet it is the afternoon Bay Area light that is paramount within the intimate and compelling works. Her paintings, in both watercolor and oil on canvas, have an affinity with the American Realists and European Impressionists. When taking in a Robertson scene, there is a sense of time standing still while being bathed in a lazy California summer glow. Artist Wayne Thiebaud once stated, “Mary Robertson’s joyous and meditative paintings are colorful simulations of contentment and sacred play.”

Laurent Davidson’s table top and freestanding stabile sculptures and mobiles are visual poetry in motion. Formed of aluminum and lightweight steel and painted in a range of nature-inspired gradient hues, this original artwork dances. It is a delight to watch the never-ending, free-flowing exchange between the dazzling aerial sculptures and the space in which they reside as a harmonious balance point is constantly pursued within a subtly changing environment.

Andra Norris Gallery exhibits contemporary art from around the globe while placing a special emphasis on California’s own rich Bay Area.
