The Polish Community of Upper Austria was established on 22 July 2008. The initiator of the organization was Mr. Julian Gaborek, the current chairman of the Polish Community of Upper Austria.
The main aim is to maintain relationships of Poles living in Austria with homeland a desire, so that the Polish Community of Upper Austria pulsates with the Polish life. The programme includes the meetings that are an opportunity to acquaint with Polish history, art, literature and music. The organizers want to engage the young people, therefore they encourage youth to take part in planning the events. In this way they get to know the patriotic ideas, mother tongue and Polish customs. The programme includes also promoting the richness of Polish culture thanks to inviting music bands, dancing groups and others from the country and organizing various events. The Polish Community of Upper Austria offers as well a wide range of sport and recreational events. In this way they want to engage the local Polish community. Next to this organization there were established Children’s Song and Dance Ensemble, Polish Radio in Upper Austria, which broadcasts a program every Sunday at 12 a.m. and sport club Orzeł.
The reunion and Polish Olympic Games are organized every year in June. They have purely sport-cultural character and are organized on a grand scale with a view to compatriots from the whole Europe. The showcase of this organization is a website run also in German. It presents through articles, pictures and videos the entirety of this organization.
