The POLONICUS Award is granted since 5 years by the European Polonia to Polish people who contributed for Poland in the whole world that support and promote Polish-German understanding, reconciliation and cooperation in various fields. The winners of the previous edition of the POLONICUS Award were: prof. Władysław Bartoszewski, prof. Jerzy Buzek, prof. Norman Davies, prof. Karl Dedecius, Archbishop Alfons Nossol.
The jury, giving the prize for Basil Kerski noted that: “with respect for our historical values, he connects the appreciation for contemporary achievements of Polish people. For years, he is professionally engaged in the analysis of the development of political and cultural life of Poland and, what is important, he promotes our country, speaks about Poland with respect, with modern understood, but dignified patriotism, without sentimentality, but with great care for the future”.
The jury also highlighted that: “Basil Kerski embodies maturity, and at the same time vigor of political thinking.”
The ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, during the Gala of Polonia in a Coronation Hall of Karol Wielki in Akwizgran.
