The Birthday Concerts festival is… an eight-day festival organized each year to celebrate the anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s birth.
From 22 February to 1 March (these two dates that are both considered Chopin’s birthdates) we have the wonderful opportunity to create an event that we proudly call the longest celebrated birthday. Not only is the festival an expression of joy and fun – as with all birthdays-but it is an expression of our pride in having such a remarkable musical legacy.
The Birthday Concerts festival features Chopin and classical music, as well as music that inspired Chopin and music inspired by Chopin.
Every year the festival enters new places and the programme expands to include other arts, such as dance, theatre, singing, poetry. As in years past, we hope that the Birthday Concerts festival will capture the audience’s imagination. With its charm, beauty, cheer, and ingeniousness, we seek to leave an unforgettable impression so that every year there are more and more individuals, organisations, venues and cities joining in this celebration. But this year, we are approaching the moment when the Birthday Concerts festival becomes one of the most important worldwide events promoting Chopin’s music.
This year’s festival includes more music than ever. Every day, music will be played on three stages!
We start at the Little Pichon Stage at the Jabłkowski Brothers Department Store, 25 Bracka Street, where whole families are invited to take part in artistic workshops and listen to young musicians performing (school bands and students).
After that we will all head to the Chopin Stage, 66 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street for piano recitals by outstanding musicians.
Each day concludes in a jazzy atmosphere at the Nocturn Stage, at Skwer, 60a Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, where musicians of various genres will share their Chopin inspired music.
For one week the Birthday Concerts festival will turn Warsaw into the City of Music!
All concerts are free of charge! Welcome!
