Enrolment for a week-long Local Government Training Course in Ireland has already started. Persons who act for the benefit of Poland and Polish communities abroad and wish to engage in local politics in Ireland are welcome to apply. The deadline for applications is 17 July 2013. The organisers, i.e. Stowarzyszenie Szkoła Liderów [School for Leaders Association] and Forum Polonia – Irlandia, would like to warmly invite you to enrol!!! The project is coorganised by the Polish Embassy in Dublin, and the training is financed from the resources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The training course is addressed to those persons who:
- want to stand in the Local Government Elections in Ireland,
- want to engage in electoral campaigns before these elections,
- or want to actively encourage the Polish community to participate in the elections and other aspects of political and social life in Ireland.
The aim of the Local Government Training Course is to strengthen and inspire its participants and provide them with practical tools for better integration and engagement of local communities, including those interested in stronger participation of the Polish community in local politics. We also want to encourage the participants to cooperate with one another and with similar people in Poland and Ireland.
The training course will comprise:
- enhancement of leadership skills,
- detailed presentation of the political system and functioning of local government structures in Ireland,
- expanding knowledge related to running electoral campaigns,
- presentation and use of the tools aimed at engaging local communities,
- expanding knowledge related to possible forms of promotion of Poland and Polish community in Ireland,
- starting effective cooperation with Irish institutions and organisations and development of relationships with representatives of politics,
- starting cooperation with leaders and organisations in Poland, who deal with similar matters.
