The Amount of rainfall in a particular month, average wind speed, air humidity… such climate data will be collected by the EO ClimLab platform designed for the European Space Agency. The platform will support products and services designed for climate change resilience.
A series of hackathons in Poland organized in the frames of EO ClimLab project is dedicatd to all those who are willing to find solutions to global warming problems. The nearest hackathon named “Oriental EoVation Gdańsk” takes place on May 26-27 at O4 Coworking, Gdańsk.
The aim of the hackathon is to encourage students, startups and businessmen to act and create solutions to social and business challenges regarding climate change. During the event participants will meet professionals from space sector, business and science fields. At the EoVation hackathon participans working in groups will be given 24 hours to propose a solution to one of the presented problems, design its functioning concept and present it before the jury.
“During the Oriental EoVation Gdańsk participants will try to design a solution utilizing satellite data to analyze challenges related to climate change effects in Afica, Middle East or South Asia. The proposed solutions will resolve issues such as estimating the area of drought in Syria, drying up of the Dead Sea or rising water in Egypt and Bangladesh” – says dr Michał Moroz from Blue Dot Solutions, one of the organizers of the hackathon.
The organizer will provide the participants with: access to the EO ClimLab platform integrated by Integrated Solutions and Orange Polska, a training session covering usage of satellite data, mentor supervision, support of experts from the space sector and business contacts with companies. The participation to the event is free of charge. The best teams will be rewarded with attractive prizes.
