Dr. Jan Krason graduated from the University of Wroclaw, Poland, with  both M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Geology. He worked for the same university from 1956 to 1966 as assistant and associate professor. Both his theses and his numerous publications addressed the early development stages of Poland’s world class, sediment hosted copper and silver deposit known as KGMH Polish Copper.

As a recipient of a scientific grant for post-graduate work, he studied for one year at Cairo University. It was here he participated in various exploration projects among the Eqyptian deserts, carried out by the Geological Survey of Egypt.

From 1966 to 1969, he worked in Libya as special geological advisor to the Libyan Government. He was responsible for discovery of Africa’s largest sodium-chloride and potassium salt deposit, hosted in a large sebkha type sedimentary environment –which was later developed into a billion dollar chemical plant.

In 1969, Dr. Krason immigrated to the USA and settled permanently in Denver, Colorado. In the beginning, he worked for the Division of Water Resources of the State of Colorado, as a senior exploration geologist for Texasgulf, Inc., and for Asarco, Inc., exploring mostly for base and precious metal deposits.

In 1974 he established his own company, GeoExplorers International, Inc., where he worked without interruption until he passed away.

During his career spanning five decades, Dr. Krason has been instrumental in the discovery and development of numerous deposits, including copper, gold, silver, natural gas and various industrial minerals, on most of the world’s continents. He was recognized as one of the best world experts on geology. As an adviser, he served for many mining and petroleum companies, various governmental organizations, international and financial institutions, including United Nations. Dr. Krason has worked and lectured in over 60 countries and has authored/co-authored over 140 scientific publications and reports.

In 2013, Jan Krason was awarded the statuette ‘Outstanding Pole in the United States’. The competition is organized by the Foundation of the Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska” and Pangea Alliance.
