Handling of passengers at Krakow Airport during World Youth Day (WYD) will be organized so as not to affect the movement of non-WYD passengers using the airport at the time of the event. Temporary accumulation of passenger traffic is likely to appear only at the time of arrivals and departures of Pope Francis, but throughout the event the airport will handle all passengers as normal, and the welcoming and farewell ceremonies for the Holy Father will be held in the military section of the airport.
During WYD the passengers of Kraków Airport are strongly recommended to use rail transportation, which is the fastest and most convenient means of transportation, not exposed to traffic disruptions due to the transfers of the Pope. On 23 July – 2 August 2016 the rail link to/from Kraków Airport will run every day, 24 hours a day, with an increased seating capacity. If you are using a means of transport other than the train, please plan to leave for the airport well in advance.
Border control
On 4 July – 2 August 2016 border control at John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice has been restored.
Medical security
Due to increased movement of passengers during World Youth Day, additional medical facilities will be provided at Kraków Airport, in addition to the services available at the airport on a daily basis. The location of basic medical facilities is shown on the plans of the terminal.
