Advertisements depicting Poland in a unique setting, referring to fairy-tales characters and famous pieces of literature, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Romeo and Juliet or Alice in Wonderland, can be seen in different places around Vilnius. Promotional posters are displayed on the streets of Vilnius as well as on means of public transport. The campaign, which will last until the end of June, is run by the Polish Tourist Organisation and supported by the Polish Institute in Vilnius.
In June, other events promoting Poland took place in the Czech Republic during the Polish Days in Prague. Last weekend, one of the main squares in the city centre was turned into a Polish town, where visitors had a chance to try some Polish traditional dishes. At more than 30 stands put up for the occasion, the inhabitants of Prague could find organic products, receive information about Polish tourist attractions and take part in concerts of some Polish and Czech-Polish bands.
As a part of the Polish-German youth exchange programme, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Institute in Berlin organised Polish Days in schools in Berlin and Brandenburg. This year’s edition started during “FilmPolska Festival” with and special film screenings of “City 44” and “Jack Strong” for German students, with an introduction given by historians representing the Centre for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin.
The Polish-German educational projects for different age groups are being are run from April until October. They enable German students to learn Polish, participate in competitions about Poland, learn some Polish dances and debate about cinema.
