In Chicago at the General Consulate of Poland, took place a prize-giving ceremony of the third edition of “Outstanding Pole” competition organised by the Polish Promotional Emblem Foundation “Teraz Polska”. Statuettes have been given to the winners by the President of Foundation Krzysztof Przybył and President of the Chapter Iwona Bocheńska.
The main purpose of the competition is to create a positive image of Poles living around the world, show their achievements as well as promote people who have been successful abroad.
The Chicago Chapter has emerged four winners this year, awarding them in the following categories: culture, education, personality, and the young Pole.
For the personality was distinguished: Dr. Carla Knorowski, activist and chairman of the Foundation of Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
In the category of science, the jury awarded engineer Marek Dollar, a dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Miami.
In the category of culture the winner was Magdalena Solarz – choreographer, director of the team “Wici” and promoter of Polish art of dance.
An outstanding “Young Pole” in this edition of the competition was the director Piotr Uzarowicz, who filmed among others: “The Officer’s Wife” about the fate of the families of officers murdered in Katyń.
The main organizer of the competition is the Foundation of the Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska”, in the U.S. carries it Pangea Alliance association. The competition is under the auspices of the Office of the President of Poland, the Polish Senate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The winners of the districts of New York and Chicago will represent the U.S. in the global final in Warsaw. The winner will receive the title of “Outstanding Pole” in the worldwide level during gala “Teraz Polska” in June at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw.
