Chile, a distant country, that only a few Poles have reached. The number of Poles in Chile has never been large. One of the first fellow in this remote country was Ignacy Domeyko. He had arrived to Chile in 1838 and began working in Coquimbo as a professor of chemistry and mineralogy. Domeyko founded there the first School of Mining.Ten years later, for his services, he received a Chilean citizenship.

Although he had never traveled to Poland and has not had contact with the Polish scientific orientalists, however, he was associated with the home country, its history and culture. He could recite Polish poets for hours, and he begun each day with playing the 1 or 2 Chopin’s Piano Concerto. All day, for the rest of his life, he was engaged in his scientific work.

The Polish Theatre in Toronto, exactly – the George Pilitowski Salon of Poetry, Music and Theatre of the Polish-Canadian Music Society plays not only in Toronto and Canada, but also in the United States and all Europe.

In lists released for 2011 and published by Central Statistics Office, it’s proven that Poles are the biggest ethnic minority in Republic of Ireland. There are more Polish born than there are British, and Polish is the second language used in Ireland.
