The conference “Move Your Imagination. Perspectives on Travel Blogging and Social Media Marketing” was targeted to a specific audience – travel bloggers and travel journalists. The conference was held at the castle (Ridderzaal) at prestigious Nyenrode Business University. During the conference participants had an opportunity to listen to inspiring speakers: scientists and bloggers,  researchers and practitioners – prof.Henry Robben and Marian Dragt from the Nyenrode University, Keith Jenkinsa, co-founder of Global Bloggers Network and Marta Zawiła-Piłat, Lower Silesia Tourist Organisation.

Social media is a field of growing importance in our understanding of society, business and education. Emerging from the rapid adoption of internet technologies social media is liable to grow even more ubiquitous, as the smart phone, tablet and other mobile platforms proliferate. Social media marketing refers to the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites. But how to build marketing strategies using social media? How to use social media to build connections?

Travel Blogging is very important in the travel industry, which today is largely driven by online reviews and other interactions. 24% of all travelers read travel-related blogs. 92% of customers trust word-of-mouth recommendations (including online “mouths,” like trusted bloggers) over all other forms of advertising. In part, this is why 52% of travelers change their travel plans after reading blogs and checking social media.

In between the lectures to the participants were served specialties of Polish cuisine. The conference was organized in cooperation with Nyenrode University, iambassador, The Sentinel, and LOT Polish Airlines and chaired by its originators: Andrzej Pawluszek, Acting Director of the Polish National Tourist Office in Amsterdam and Otto van Veen, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland.
