Today, Tofifest is considered to be one of the most important film festivals in Poland that awards prizes for film debuts from all around the world. But it does not recognise debuts only, do not be mistaken. What its organizers consider the most important thing is to present an interesting and unconventional story about the modern man.
The festival organises four competitions. There two competitions for international films, and two competitions for Polish films.
Competitions for international films
Film-makers from all around the globe can submit their debuts and sophomore films for the ON AIR main competition, as well as short films (feature films, documentaries, and animations) for the SHORTCUT competition. Last year, we received 2,900 film submissions from 62 countries in the world.
Competitions for Polish films
Polish film directors can compete in two competitions that do not require submitting debut films: FROM POLAND, intended for full-length films (feature films, documentaries, and animations), and LOKALIZACJE, intended for short- and medium-length films made by film-makers connected to the region of Kujawsko-Pomorskie (feature films, documentaries, and animations).

Tofifest takes place in Torun – a pearl of Gothic architecture in Poland – that has been entered in the UNESCO list. This year, the 14th edition of Tofifest will be held from 15th to 23rd October.
