The IUVENUM POLONIA (www.iuve.pl) portal is an interesting and useful source of information about the lives and activities of Polish communities around the world, especially their youngest representatives. The goal of this portal is to mobilize fellow-countrymen to act on behalf of Poland, Poles, the Polish Diaspora (Polonia) and issues important to them.

“Youth, the future of Polish Diaspora”

Iuve.pl was created by the Warsaw-based SEMPER POLONIA Foundation that aids Polish communities abroad, focusing on creating possibilities for socio-professional promotion of youth of Polish descent in their countries of residence by awarding grants (which have benefitted over 15 thousand people already), organizing workshops, courses and professional internships.

The goal of our Foundation is the creation of Polish elites. Educated, cultured youth that is also receptive to new technologies is the future of the Polonia. Supporting them is in the interest of us all – says Marek Hauszyld, chairman of the SEMPER POLONIA Foundation. He points out that through IUVENUM POLONIA (created in January 2012) the Foundation stays in touch with Polish youth and motivates them – We accentuate good examples and the success of young compatriots in various fields – he adds.

What’s in it for me?

IUVENUM POLONIA’s website has multiple thematically organized sections. In “Get to know” we find out how we can find up-to-date information on Poland and the Polonia concerning topics like politics, economics or science. There’s also culture and sports. The “Life of Polonia” section presents the lives of Poles living abroad, focusing primarily on cultural and historical aspects. Here we can find, among others, coverage of patriotic events from all over the world.

In the „Let’s organize” section we find a list of organizations working on social, sport or cultural issues and events organized by them. There also is an index of various Polonia-related media. The “We learn and work” section offers practical information on education and career, Polish and foreign education and labor markets. This is the place where we can find the necessary information on grants.

The “Word is Out” section is dedicated to the Polish language, including its youth variants. It contains advice and interesting linguistic facts, brought to our visitors by Prof. Jerzy Bralczyk and ed. Bartek Chaciński. Here you can find the origins and meanings of words like “nastukany” (high, or beaten up), “rozkminiać” (dope something out) or “niehalo” (nonkosher).

Let your voice be heard

The “We debate” section offers room for different kinds of discussion through the forum or blog.  The blog features posts written by editors of Iuve.pl, but by readers as well, because IUVENUM POLONIA wants to give us, young Poles from around the world, a clear voice.

We can send the portal our observations, opinions and comments on living outside our Motherland, photographs and video depicting our relationship with Poland and Poles, Polish culture and tradition, sport, education, entertainment. – Do you have an interesting story and want to share it with the readers of our portal? Let us know! – Encourages Grzegorz Rogowski, editor-in-chief of iuve.pl.

The most important thing is that there are no formal or age-related requirements for people interested in writing for IUVENUM POLONIA’s blog. Do you want to share your experiences with our readers? Feel free to send an e-mail with an introductory post to: grogowski@iuve.pl.
