Ustronsky band sends you best wishes for Christmas with their brand new Christmas carol – “(If You Want) Be Just Like Him”, which you can listen to here.

Ustronsky was formed in 2008 by Zbigniew Baldys (guitar) and Jan Zachar (vocal). From the very beginning, the band’s line-up consisted of very experienced and professional musicians – graduates of the Institute of Jazz and Contemporary Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice – showcasing their individual musical styles, with extensive gigging experience in Poland and abroad. The vocalist, Jan Zachar, took part in one of the best known talent contests on Polish National TVP2- ‘Szansa na Sukces’, winning three editions of the contest.

The band achieved their first national success in 2009 by winning the Highly Commended Award at the 46th National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in the ‘Debut’ category with their outstanding performance of “Plonaca Stodola” by Czeslaw Niemen. Their next major success was getting to the semi-finals of  the third edition of ‘Must be the Music’ competition broadcasted by Polsat TV.  Ustronsky received the highest scores from all judges after both their performances and heard some very positive comments.

Ustronsky songs can be heard on local and national radio stations, in Poland and abroad, such as the Polish National Radio One (three of the band’s songs had been chosen as The Song of The Day), Radio Bielsko, Radio Kaszebe, Muzyczne Radio, Radio Pik, Polskie Radio Chicago, Wietrzne Radio Chicago and many others. The song “Czasu Brak” is currently number one in Radio Bielsko music chart and the band has achieved chart success in many radio stations in Poland and abroad.

When asked about their work artists say:  ‘For us, the quality of our music, our sound, energy and the standard of our live shows are most important. We don’t try to put labels on our music, or come up with any artificial styles , we put all our energy into our music, to ensure that its quality is highest possible.  We don’t play mainstream music and we are not trying to make it mainstream.  Our aim is to play the kind of music we all like.  We don’t limit ourselves to one musical genre, because that’s not our style.  We try to concentrate on our original material, but we also play a few well-known covers and the audience can verify our hard work at our gigs. We feel our music is constantly improving, changing and that is very satisfying.  Our lyrics are not meant to preach, although we love mysticism, we are not prophets and our music will never give any underlying messages. We feel that everyone will find a part of themselves in our lyrics. We don’t try to force anyone to listen to our music.  We love to describe the current reality and play good music.’
Ustronsky took part in numerous TV daytime shows (TVP1, Polsat, TVS) and filmed a few videos, including a song with guest appearances from Polish TV celebrities.

“All those achievements give us a massive satisfaction and energy to further improve our music. We believe that our music has something for everyone.”- they say.
