Dear Polish people in the Netherlands,
For a documentary of 20 minutes I am searching for Polish immigrants between the 20 and 35 years old, who work or study in the Netherlands with the hope to realize their dreams and to develop themselves.
I am a student film (23) at the School of the Arts and I am finishing now my last year. As a final project I’m making a documentary about the Polish immigrants in the Netherlands. The theme of the film is: to what extent collide their dreams with the reality in the Netherlands. With my documentary I want to delve into the life of a number of Polish immigrants and show the other side than just the Polish immigrant worker who wants to make a lot of money in a short time. I would like to focus on the personal stories and dreams and how they see their stay in the Netherlands as a way to achieve their goals.
I did already a lot of research to this subject and I recognize that there is a need to an other image of Polish people who move to the Netherlands. I have met Polish students, businessmen, artists, and workers with dreams about the future. They want to reach something, but are also confronted with the harsh reality. In the Netherlands Poles have the image to be hard workers, who are only doing simple jobs.
Poles are classified in a particular manner and for them it is not easy to come out this manner. The question WHO the Poles are, who come here, is not asked. I would like to pay attention to this and examine to which extent the
Poles will be able to organize their lives, which barriers they have, how they see their time in the Netherlands as a way to achieve their goals and how they approach this.
If you are willing to be a part of this documentary, which has the title: The Polish Dream, please send an email to the following address: office@linktopoland.com
For your information, I work with integrity with the people I interview/follow. I would like to meet and speak with you first before we start filming.
Friendly regards,
Karin Kooijman
