Enigmatik Qurtet is a band set up by the saxophonist Marcin Świderski. The set of instruments – saxophone, piano, contrabass and drums – brings to mind the vision of a classical jazz band, yet, it is worth mentioning that their music is strongly influenced by Polish folk music. It comes as no surprise, as some members of the Quartet had their musical interests shaped while playing in numerous folk groups. On the other hand, they all admit that such names as H. Hancock, K. Jarret and J. Garbarek are among their inspirations. As a result, we are being offered a mixture of a classical jazz quartet with typically Polish sounds of e.g. an accordion. Their music, being the outcome of the musicians’ will to experiment with genres combined with intriguing, innovative solutions, is something definitely not to be missed.

Enigmatik Quartet recorded „Yanko” in RecPublica studio in Lubrza in 2012. The album was released on June 9, 2014 by Atma Music and is available worldwide in digital version on iTunes and Spotify.
