The modern world belongs to the people on the road. Emigrating and moving, since always, continually change and expand the boundaries of territory. Sometimes it is a matter of choice, sometimes it requires overcoming administrative obstacles, sometimes determination and persistence – but always great strength and hope. How to express this experience? How to see it in a foreigner, an emigrant person with the same dreams and needs? The Award of Emigration Museum was founded with a view about the movies that openly discussion the importance of migration in the modern world, and at the same time – from the widely-commented economic, social and cultural phenomenon are able to carve out a personal history of man.
The Emigration Museum in Gdynia is currently an institution in an organization. The most important part of the institution will be popularizing knowledge about the history of emigration from Polish lands, however its mission and activity will take in the perspective of a universal experience and in full consciousness, how fundamental meaning has present-day global migratory movement. The Award of Emigration Museum in Gdynia has not only appreciated the film makers and their documentaries but also drawn attention to the problems of migration and expanded the horizon on mutual sensitivity.
The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony evening on May 17 in Warsaw.
