On behalf of the Jagiellonian University Polish Research Centre in London, in partnership with the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, we are pleased to invite you to the conference “Do the Humanities have a Nationality? Polish Scholars in the UK”. The event will be held on November 30, 2013 at UCL SSEES.

Leading scholars in their fields are invited to talk from the most up to date perspectives. The key-note lecture will be delivered by Dr Ann White from the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies at the University of Bath. We hope this conference will bring together researchers from different sectors of the humanities, history, sociology, emigration studies, linguistics and literature, working on subjects relating in some way to Poland, thus creating an opportunity to exchange ideas, research and to establish cooperation between them and a number of represented Universities. There will be an opportunity to network with others and find out about the different research being undertaken, which will be of great benefit. We believe this will be a good opportunity for a serious debate on Polish science and scholarship programme in the United Kingdom, and on education tailored for the needs of the Poles who live here. As an essential part of the conference prog ramme we shall present the final report on the Educational Needs of Poles living in the UK commissioned this year by PON UJ. In the session “Academic policy in the making” we shall have the privilege of meeting a number of leading researchers from Poland. They will be presenting their work and achievements as well as giving a brief introduction of the institutions they represent, including the prospects these institutions offer for the international academic community.

For registration please send an email to: Krzysztof Piskorski PON UJ Coordinator, Krzysztof.Piskorski@uj.edu.pl or call + 44 777 664 66 81
