The airport, now officially named Chopin Airport, was opened on 29 April 1934 by then-President Ignacy Mościcki. The anniversary of the event is being celebrated during the whole of 2014, with the highlight being the airport’s 80th birthday party to take place on Saturday 26 April in the public area of the Terminal A Arrivals Hall.

The event will start at 11.00 a.m. and finish at 2.00 p.m. There will be a lot of fun activities, such as: cutting the birthday cake and competitions with attractive prizes, including airline tickets, tours of the airport and perfume. Everyone will be invited to try their hand at piloting a plane in a flight simulator or talk to representatives of airport services: an airport duty officer, follow me coordinator or airport security service or fire service officers. Other surprises will include drawing contests, dance shows and many more. Most airport shops and restaurants will offer attractive discounts and promotional offers.

All those wishing to join the celebrations are invited to come. The event is a perfect opportunity for a family outing. You can get to the airport by bus (lines: 148, 175, 188 and 331) or by train (Szybka Kolej Miejska – lines S2 and S3, and Koleje Mazowieckie).
