Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
Hello ! My name is Gabin, I’m 20 years old and I’m from France. I was studying electronic in university in France before I came here in Poland to study Operating Systems and Computer Science in general at the Warsaw University of Technology.
What has surprised you in Poland?
The most surprising thing in Poland, has been the weather. I arrived during February and I waited 3 weeks to see the sun. It was disturbing because I love to take my coffee outside with the sun in the morning.
The second thing wich surprised me was the way to say “Hello” to girls. Because in my country, we kiss on the cheeks but here we have to shake hands.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
During my studies in France, I have to study abroad because it’s an international diploma. I had the choice between Wales, Hungary and Poland. So I chose Poland and I’m glad of my choice because I already had a lot of fun here.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
I came in Poland without any accomodation, so I lived with some friends for few days to have the time to find a flat. But they arrived one week before me so they went through the difficulties by themselves and for me it was easier. So my arrival was not as difficult as I expected.
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in France
In France, the teachers that I have are more some professionnals. they are working people who applicate every day what they teach us. And here they are only doctors so it’s it’s not the same way to teach. In France we have more time to pratice, we have also about 17 hours more per week. So the studies here are less tiring than in France.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
The fact that I have only 9 hours of lessons per week let me a lot of free time to do what I want so I think that’s a sufficient reason.
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
Pope Jean Paul II, Frédéric Chopin, Roman Polanski, Nicolas Copernic and Marie Curie.
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
I didn’t take the time to visit another city than Warsaw already. But I’ll try to go to Krakow, Mazury Lakes and Auschwitz. Because the history of France and Poland are related by the World War II and particulary in this place, especially because I’m really interested in this part of the history of the Europe.
Tell us about the country you’ve always wanted to visit, but still haven’t:
I want to visit the entire world if it was possible. But if I have to choose only one country, I should be Russia because I from France so I can’t choose Paris. I always wanted to visit Moscow to see the Kremlin and other places over there.
Are you a member of any student’s club or organization? Tell us something about it:
I came in February so I didn’t take the time to belong to any club and I think that I won’t have the time because I stay here for only three months.
Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?
I think yes because I stay for a very short time so I will not have the time to visit all the places that I want to.
