The “Golden Pen” prize was awarded to the Institute in recognition of its services for the development of Polish-Bulgarian cultural cooperation during the sixty-five years of the post’s existence in Bulgaria. The award was received by the Director of the Polish Institute Agnieszka Kościuszko.

The award ceremony is part of the European Music Festival programme, organised by Radio Classic FM in cooperation with the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and Sofia’s Town Hall. The event promotes Sofia’s candidacy for the title of European Culture Capital in 2019.

Golden Pen prize-winners include the world-class violinist Vesko Eschkenazy, Maestro Mihail Angelov, the actress Stojanka Mutafova, the musician Teodossi Spassov, and the director Georgi Kadurin.

A concert performed by student laureates of international and national competitions held in the concert hall of the State Secondary Music School in Sofia is traditionally part of the award ceremony. This year’s performers include Konstanza Diulgerova, winner of the first prize at the Witold Lutosławski Competition Sofia 2013, organised by the Polish Institute in Sofia. In the fall of 2014, Konstanza Diulgerovaand and her lecturer, Professor Ludmil Angelov, an outstanding Chopinist, will perform at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
