The Heart Warsaw, opened in January 2017, is a single point of contact with the European startup ecosystem for tens of large organizations. The support provided to corporations is comprehensive – from preparing the organization to work with startups, through dedicated
scouting, and up to pilot implementations. At the same time, the center complements the European ecosystem of incubators and accelerators, by supporting already mature startups at later stages of development. In this way, The Heart is building a group of companies heading for fast international expansion.
– Digitization changes not only industries like banking, media or retail. Actually each of us can benefit from digital technologies which make life easier for patients and their doctors. By launching our HealthTech Program, we want to bring together the potential of thriving
European startups with corporations that can help their solutions spread faster – says Tomasz Rudolf, Co-founder The Heart Warsaw.
Earlier this year, The Heart has launched FinTech Program – dedicated to the financial industry and Omnichannel Program – for digital transformation of sales and marketing. HealthTech Program joins as the third initiative, and will focus on fostering cooperation between
companies operating in the healthcare industry. The program has been divided into three areas that will have a major impact on the healthcare industry in the coming years, such as Telemedicine, Healthcare Analytics and Healthcare IoT.
– One of the first companies to join the program has been AbbVie. At AbbVie, science and innovation are the soul of our company. Indeed, our business is a very specific one: we are constantly finding new ways to address patients’ most serious health issues and we are going beyond developing medicines. We help elevating the current standard of care to bring greater benefits to our patients, their caregiver and loved ones. While we concentrate our efforts on a core set of therapeutic areas, we embrace innovation in a broader way. How can we make the life of patients easier? How can we help doctors s better support and inform their patients? With that in mind, we see that there are different areas that would be worth exploring. – said Jacek Mazurkiewicz, General Manager of Abbvie Poland, global biopharmaceutical company which is one of the programs’ partners. –Take for instance telemedicine. Could these kind of solutions be more comfortable for patients and doctors? What are the associated problems, and how can they be overcome? I think for these kind of questions we have to reach out to find creative answers. We see a lot of potential in the start-up sector in Poland and it is our
responsibility to explore it, this is why, together with The Heart, we decided to initiate the HealthTech program.
Each of the three main themes within HealthTech Program will take four months, during which there will be time for selection of companies, networking meetings and pitching to potential corporate partners. Each series will result in pilot implementations of the most promising solutions. Telemedicine theme starts first already this May. The Heart invites all interested companies to participate in the program.
