Last year was a very intense time in Maria Sadowska’s life. Her full-length film debut entitled “Dzień kobiet” (Women’s Day) captivated not only the audience, but also critics and jurors in more than one film festival. Along with the film there was also an equally committed record with the same title made and so the director had lots of work connected with promoting both the film and her album. Although she couldn’t complain about having too much free time, in autumn 2013 Maria became a juror in the “The Voice of Poland” talent show on TVP2. The winner, Mateusz Ziółko, was actually her charge.

It would seem that Maria Sadowska, seduced by the film world and sucked in by the television machine, could forget about music for a long time. As it turned out, it was impossible. When you start making music, you cannot stop. It will always follow you – the artist admits and invites everyone to listen to her new record called “Jazz na ulicach”.

The title should not mislead you. Although Maria has jazz music in her blood, the new material is nothing like beautiful, slightly tarnished standards she used to perform. It’s an open, modern and energetic dance music that combines different musical influences but with rhythm always in the lead.
I was a little bit tired with serious matters I had to deal with and I needed something lighter, positive and cool. Something with no undertones and social context but with free and easy sounds. I wanted to abreact. I finally felt like dancing – admits Sadowska.

“Jazz na ulicach” was created… in the basement, where Maria was meeting her new band (Kacper Zasada – double bass, Bartek Nazaruk – drums, Tomek Łabanowski – guitar). When the material was ready, the musicians moved to the Warsaw studio called Black Kiss Records, where almost all the instrumental parts were made, and then to the Jazzda Music studio, where Sadowska recorded her vocals and where the full material was edited. There were also interesting guests invited – phenomenal Urszula Dudziak and the girls whom Maria met on the “The Voice of Poland” show – Gosia Janek and Beata Orbik.

We turned everything upside down – says our heroine. Without polishing any final touches but without going crazy. With our emotions at the forefront – she adds. But you shouldn’t take what she says for granted. Let the music speak for itself – the noble sounds, the beat and the freedom that makes her latest record a treat worth more than thousand words.
