“He’s one of the most experienced judges in Poland, but also an honest and friendly man,” Stanisław Zabłocki, a Supreme Court justice, says about Professor Hofmański.

Professor Piotr Hofmański (b. 1956) studied law at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, where he received a PhD in 1981. He was awarded the title of professor of legal sciences by a decision of the President of the Republic of Poland of 14 April 1997.

Since 2003 he has been the Chair of the Department of Criminal Procedure at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Since 1996 Professor Hofmański has been sitting on the Supreme Court’s Criminal Chamber. He is also the Spokesman of the Supreme Court.

Professor Hofmański is the author and co-author of almost 300 scientific papers, including a commentary in depth on the Polish Code of Criminal Procedure.
