An annual Polish film festival cinema shows outstanding masterpieces of Polish cinematography and presents profiles of famous Polish directors as well as promising filmmakers all over the United Kingdom.  This year’s KINOTEKA arrived to to UK for for the 12th time visiting major cities such us Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Oxford and Liverpool.

First day of the festival brought Maciej Pieprzyca’s drama „Life feels good”. The film is a double prize audience winner both at Gdynia and Montreal festivals and tells the story of disabled young man who takes up the fight for the dignity and the right to a normal life. The main character – Mateusz, played by the excellent performance of Dawid Ogrodnik was truly touching. The film is a an uplifiting tribute to the human spirit – as mentioned by an audience member this ineed was ‘’one of the best Polish films we have seen in years’’.

On Wednesday evening, the audience had a chance to watch contemporray Polish romantic comedy „Sophie seeks seven” directed by Weronika Migoń. The story of Zosia, clearly inspired by the american indpendent cinema revales life of young Poles in the capital of Poland.  This lightweight film, with a great soundtrack was a perfect choice to finish of the festival.

Liverpool Polish Midsummer Festival will bring Polish Folklore Weekend at the end of June as well as one of the most innovative Polish thatre companies to Liverpool next.
