Wojciech Waleczek, a laureate of many international competitions, talked with representatives of Kurdish universities about cooperation in organising and running music workshops.

At the two concert performances on 20 and 22 November, the Polish pianist played, in addition to Chopin, the music of Robert Schumann, Ferenc Liszt and Wojciech Kilar. During the intermissions, the Irbil and Dohuk audience could also learn about interesting facts from Frederic Chopin’s life.

The concerts were attended by local authorities and university chancellors. Also in the audience were Poles living in Kurdistan, students of its Academy of Fine Arts and university music departments.

The recitals in Irbil and Dohuk were the major international cultural events of 2014 in Iraqi Kurdistan
