Future4Build is an annual, international conference and exhibition dedicated to sustainable development in the construction industry. During the two days of the conference (6-7 November 2013), experts, institutions, and companies interested in environmentally friendly construction gathered for 28 panel discussions and presentations on the latest research and trends in sustainable construction. Some of the presentations included the latest reports of the Polish and international institutions such as S-I-R-E report (Sustainable Investment in Real Estate), Low Emission Poland in 2050, and Deep Temomodernize – Poland Roadmap 2050, it’s more efficient for Efficiency – how best to implement the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on efficient energy.
There was a debate on the quality of life in Polish cities using data collected by the National Human Development Report. Along with the conference, there was an evening gala where several awards were presented to the Society of Polish Town Planners for the best designed public space. The experts also discussed possibilities about the development of green buildings in Poland with aspects of economic, legal, social and environmental issues.
“-Future4Build’s aim is to promote and stimulate sustainable development throughout the construction sector. We showcase Poland’s ability to build houses, office buildings, and even entire cities environmentally friendly. We fight against stereotypes that say green technologies are expensive and inaccessible. – says Svetlana Robinson, the organizer of Future4Build – “For three years, together with our partners, we have strived to develop the construction sector in a sustainable way, providing not only new knowledge but also giving everyone the opportunity to establish long-term relationships between experts, practitioners and investors interested in environmental technologies.”
“The construction sector is becoming more and more aware of issues related to sustainable construction, and the use of green solutions will increasingly require US national rules, EU directives and international agreements. Both companies as well as investors increasingly understand that over the next six years, we will have to drastically change the way we design and build. Future4Build meets these expectations by giving space for a discussion on the necessary changes to answer the challenges ahead. – says Tomasz Bednarczyk, Future4Build conference producer – At this year’s conference, we had an extremely high level of content. Among the speakers were world-renowned experts.”
During the conference, for the first time the general public was able to familiarize themselves with new reports and regulations, from sources both domestic as well as international. During the evening, the Future4Build Gala also featured the world premiere of the Elemental Flow Towers – completely self-sufficient buildings using up to 8 types of renewable energy.
