“When praising the household management experienced.
It is wonderful to be the mistress of the family home. It means having the time to cook healthy dinners every day, taking care of myself, my husband and above all looking after our children and ensuring their safe upbringing. For most of us it is a rather abstract lifestyle. We have to work and take care of the house, yet we also want to and should look good.
How can we cope with it?
Women must not be judged purely on the merit of their work accomplishments, their career and their promotional prospects. Maintaining a happy marriage, caring for their family, and raising children properly in a world of constantly failing relationships, are much more important than any professional ambitions.
Along with Magda, I think that the way in which our house will be is down to us, the women. Will it be a warm place where everyone gladly returns, or a empty apartment with a constant trademark feature of discarded pizza boxes? Will it have tenderness, emotion and care? Will it be tidy and peaceful? Without the negative emotions brought on through work but with a whole spectrum of household members feelings which will have to sometimes be tamed, sometimes shaped and sometimes you just have to let yourself get carried away by them. Against all of what the modern media and suspect authorities are feeding us, we must continue to believe in the power of the family. Being a mistress of the house, even part-time, can be wonderful and “tasty”.
You will find plenty of evidence for that in our book!”
