“There is great interest in Polish fashion” – deputy chief of Polish diplomacy said during the meeting organised by HUSH Warsaw International. “The fashion industry has a huge potential for creativity and innovation that we can proudly speak of abroad.”
Deputy Minister Kacperczyk encouraged designers participating in the meeting to take advantage of MFA’s support. “We have a network of over 150 diplomatic posts that include embassies, Polish consulates and Polish institutes across the globe. Polish institutes play a very important role. For years we have been building synergies in the way Poland and Polish products are being presented abroad.”
Deputy Minister of the Economy Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik also spoke about support for Polish fashion designers: “We need a list of key places where Poland must be present to show its potential in the coming years. We should draw up such a list for the next six years.”
HUSH Warsaw International is a project whose aim is to promote Polish brands on foreign markets. The Polish Institute Düsseldorf assists Polish designers who will be presenting their collections during The Gallery international fashion fair and the GDS – Global Destination for Shoes & Accessories fair in late July. GDS director Kirstin Deutelmoser, who attended the conference, expressed optimism when talking about the chances of success for Polish designers in the FRG: – Polish brands could enter this market thanks to their creativity as well as the support of HUSH Warsaw International which selects brands that are not only able to handle big orders, but also maintain high quality.
On 24-31 July, during the fair, it will be possible to see collections created by ten Polish designers like Joanna Hawrot, Michał Szulc, Gosia Sobiczewska. This is the first such presentation of young Polish designers in Düsseldorf – Germany’s fashion capital. The Polish show will be prepared by Anna Pięta and Magda Korcz, founders and managers of the HUSH Warsaw fashion fair. Poland will also be promoted by a concert show featuring Florian Walter, who plays Polish jazz standards and experimental music inspired by Polish motifs.
During The Gallery fair, leading German fashion bloggers will meet with Polish designers and curators representing HUSH Warsaw. GDS – Global Destination for Shoes & Accessories fair will include concerts and tastings of Polish cuisine. The Gallery fashion fair is attended by industry specialists, stylists and merchants from all over the world. Over 550 collections combine classic and avant-garde elements. The GDS Shoe and Accessories Fair is one of Germany’s biggest fairs of this type. The previous winter edition was seen by 21,000 visitors from 100 countries.
