The awards ceremony was held today (14/04) at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Apart from Czeslaw Lang receiving a statue in the likeness of the famous Pole Frederic Chopin, in attendance was also the Polish Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek, the Polish Army General Mieczyslaw Bieniek and president of the Union of Poles in Lithuania Michał Mackiewicz.
“Your resume and sporting achievements attest to the patriotism and passion that reflects the many years of your work to popularize the sport, which links all nations of the world. There is no way in a few sentences to introduce the achievements related to your work. With the Tour de Pologne you showed the potential of Poles, their talents and skills,” we read in the reasons for his award.
“This award is a great honour for me and further proof of that it is worthwhile to organize the Tour de Pologne. I’m glad the more that I found myself amongst such noble laureates,” emphasizes the CEO of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour.
The ceremony at the Royal Castle was a nice break from all the hard work that everyday Czeslaw Lang and his team put into the organization of the 71st Tour de Pologne. In 110 days the world’s best cyclists shall set off from the gates of the Gdansk Shipyard and within seven days will travel more than 1,200 kilometers.
See you on the track!
