The residents of Singapore will have their first chance to taste Polish apples thanks to efforts by the Polish Embassy in Singapore. The first transport of apples of the Champion variety has now reached the local port; other containers are on their way.

According to Ambassador Kosiniak-Kamysz, Polish apples can be re-exported from Singapore to other countries of the region, as is the case with many vegetable and fruit imports from other continents.

“Successful sales of the first batch of apples will create an opportunity for opening this market to other Polish fruit and vegetables. Singaporean importers view our market as promising, and express their interest not only in Polish apples, but also potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and soft fruit (strawberries, sweet cherries, raspberries, bilberries),” said the ambassador.

Polish apple exports to Singapore are a result of the search for new markets which Polish apple producers and exporters began once Russia had banned Polish food imports. Polish diplomats have been actively seeking to awaken local importers’ interest in the Polish offer. Their efforts have allowed our companies to establish contacts with Singaporean partners within a short period of time.

The Polish side values cooperation with and support from Singapore’s Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA), and the Singapore Fruits and Vegetables Importers and Exporters Association (SFVA), as well as the Agricultural Market Agency’s assistance in collecting offers from Polish companies.
