From Wall Street to Poznań

Franklin Distributors, Inc., the original investment advisor and wholesale distributor of the Franklin Group of Funds, was founded in New York in 1947 by Rupert H. Johnson, Sr. He named the company after U.S. founding father Benjamin Franklin, whom he greatly admired for his perseverance and innovative spirit as well as his business philosophy. To this day, Ben Franklin’s image evokes a feeling of trust and assurance that serves to reinforce the confidence shareholders have in their partnership with Franklin Templeton Investments.

At present Franklin Resources, Inc., known as Franklin Templeton Investments, is a global investment company headquartered in San Mateo in California. It has offices in 35 countries  and offers investment services and solutions to customers in more than 150 countries globally.

The company has been operating in the Polish market since 1997, when its first office in Warsaw was opened, and acted as the regional office for Central and Eastern Europe. Later in 2007, the first Franklin Templeton Investments office was opened in Poznań, followed by the second one eight years later. At the moment both offices in Poznań have more than 850 employees and operate as a global service centre. They are located in Andersia Tower and Malta House.

Investing in personal development

Franklin Templeton Investments Poland is constantly growing. A new building, which will combine the two current offices in Poznan, is being constructed. It will  provide its employees with a healthy and friendly working environment, featuring modern spaces that encourage collaboration and integration between different teams as well as a canteen, fitness room and dedicated parking for bicycles.

Franklin Templeton also prides itself on customer service, building long-lasting relationships and achieving quality results for clients. Honesty, sharing knowledge and mentoring employees are also all deeply valued, so that its workforce can constantly learn and develop. The company’s most important resource is its employees, which is why creating a healthy working environment is a top priority.

Support and internal programs

Even though Franklin Templeton is a global firm with employees worldwide, every single employee has a voice. The company works hard to meet its employees’ career goals by offering them various forms of training, support and benefits.

For example, through its Employee Assistance Program employees can contact experts through the information line and discuss issues impacting different areas of their life. These conversations are confidential. Employees can talk to a psychologist, lawyer, investment advisor or even a dietician.

Additionally, the company’s Involved Program, which is its global employee engagement initiative, offers staff opportunities to give back to the local communities where they live. The program connects them with charity activities such as supporting the elderly and disabled, orphanages and animal shelters, as well as participating in annual campaigns such as Szlachetna Paczka or Shoebox. Some of the great work Franklin Templeton staff are doing was recognized in the Volunteer of the Year 2017 competition.

Regarding the firm’s own internal communications, there is a strong social network and platform for communicating and sharing ideas amongst colleagues. Some examples are the Women@FTI, Pride@FTI and ABLE@FTI that are dedicated platforms for sharing insights and information related to specific focus areas.

The firm also organizes its “Month for Health” campaign. This includes a series of meetings, workshops and sessions relating to health and physical fitness, such as salsa and Zumba lessons, consultations with dieticians, and meetings with doctors for basic medical tests. Many workshops and activities are also organised by employees.

Franklin Templeton Investments, together with mamopracuj.pl, is also conducting an information campaign about job openings with flexible working hours. Within this project there are annual meetings for mums organised (the next one will take place in May 2018 in Poznań) to help women come back to work after a maternity leave and adjust to a constantly changing job market.

Constantly open to new employees

The Poznań branch offers a range of employment opportunities and has regular openings. Every year Franklin Templeton Investments Poland takes on new hires, which is connected with building the new office building in Poznań. There are plans to increase the number of employees up to 1500 people.

Personalities and competencies

The majority of employees in the Poznań offices cooperate with their colleagues and supervisors in other countries on a daily basis. The whole internal communications system is largely conducted in English which is why anyone applying for a job at Franklin Templeton Investments should be able to operate comfortably in English.

The company highly values relationship building within teams, open communication, knowledge sharing and creativity. Franklin Templeton Investments operates in many different business areas which is why it offers jobs to candidates with various professional backgrounds and experiences. Job applications for example are accepted from people who graduated with degrees in finance, accounting, economics, marketing, project management, language studies, administration, law, mathematics, IT, computer design, and others. The company also offers internships for students, jobs for graduates as well as specialist, expert and leadership positions to people who already have professional experience.

People who like working in an international environment, learn quickly, and are independent and focused will definitely find their place at Franklin Templeton. And thanks to tools like Skype it’s possible to have job interviews with people living abroad, or to come in for a meeting at a Franklin Templeton office closest to you, such as in London or Edinburgh.
