The 10th Polish Festival at Federation Square, Melbourne’s central point, has featured four hundred artists from folk groups and Polish diaspora schools. The event was co-hosted by the Polish Embassy in Canberra and Polish Consulate General in Sydney.

Dies Illa, Krzysztof Penderecki’s latest piece of music, has had its world premiere at an international concert in Belgium marking 100 years since the outbreak of World War One. The outstanding Polish composer dedicated his new work to all victims of that conflict.

From the 9th of October in the UK and Northern Ireland, we’ve had the opportunity to watch dozens of Polish short films, features and animations during the Play Poland Film Festival. One of the features – ‘Kebab & Horoscope’ has already won over London audience, where the jury of Raindance Festival awarded it the Best Feature Debut. The director, Grzegorz Jaroszuk, born in 1983, graduated from Łodz Film School, which is currently the cradle for nurturing the talent of young Polish film-makers. He’s already gained impressive experience, contributing to the creation of many shorts films and features. Past editions of Play Poland Film Festival, have shown his widely recognized short film – ‘Frozen Stories’. Now it’s time to present his first feature film.

The 2014 edition of Play Poland Film Festival in London continues to showcase the finest in Polish cinema, art and culture. PLAY FULL, in collaboration with PAE and other partner organisations, have prepared 17 unique events to be staged across the English capital. The festival opens on the 23rd of October and continues until the 15th of November 2014.
