On the occasion of the Bulgarian Education, Culture and Slavonic Literature Day that falls on 24 May, Classic FM Radio and Makta Gallery decorated 24 representatives of the world of culture and art with the prestigious “Golden Pen” prize which has been awarded for the past nineteen years. The Polish Institute in Sofia is the only foreign institution to be honoured in this year’s edition.

Samizdat, alternative rock scene, Andrzej Wajda’s film trilogy, Leszek Możdżer’s music, Jarocin festival, and “Warsaw-the City of Freedom” are the main subjects of the 12th “Corso Polonia”, a festival of Polish culture, which opened in Rome on 26 May.

“Jazz na ulicach” (Jazz in the streets) – the latest record by Maria Sadowska – is all about open, modern and energetic dance music that combines different influences but with rhythm always in the lead.

Liverpool Polish Midsummer Festival invites Liverpool audiences into a journey through Polish folk towards the best of contemporary Polish art and culture. Texas became a home to the first Polish settlers in the United States of America who came to Panna Maria (Karnes County, TX), a settlement founded by Franciscan, Father Leopold Moczygemba in 1854. Over the years, Polish immigrants and their descendants spread to many other places in Texas such as Houston, Bremond, and many others. Some of the most recent immigrants – including the ones who came to the States in the 80s and later, settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area.

The Polish Institute in Budapest, the oldest foreign cultural institute in Hungary and – besides London – one of two first ones in the network of Polish cultural diplomacy posts – celebrates its 75 anniversary. On this occasion, the inhabitants of Hungary’s capital are invited to a series of jubilee events.

Warsaw will be hosting the Street Art Festival for the 22nd time. Artists will be our guests in the streets of the capital city on June 27-29 and July 4-6. Street Art will traditionally visit Rynek Nowego Miasta and Agrykola Park with pantomime and comedy shows, religious theatres, wandering theatre companies, drama workshops and avant garde fashion shows.

The main idea behind the “United States of Beta – Poles Jazz the World” record is openness to the world. It includes unique compositions, which take us into the world of musical diversity – ethno, jazz and chillout. It’s a distinctive mixture of influences and moods from the most distant places – from Scandinavia to Africa, from India to New York.
