Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz has been named the recipient of the 2014 Gilmore Artist Award, it was announced today by Daniel R. Gustin, Director of the Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival. One of the most prestigious honors in music, the Gilmore Artist Award is presented every four years on a non-competitive basis to an exceptional pianist who, regardless of age or nationality, has the potential to sustain a career as a major international concert artist.

Although the unfavourable weather did not encourage venturing outdoors, the citizens of Żyrardów once again did not disappoint expectations, coming to “Resursa” Gallery. And the occasion was special. With a t tribute year dedicated to Julian Tuwim recently coming to an end, Polish and the Polish diaspora space have been filled with multimedia exhibitions, educational events, concerts, theatrical performances, and a series of happenings which were inspired by the poet’s life and works. One of the latest chords of Tuwim’s jubilee sounded on the15th of November in Hagen Bartkapel, at a concert organised by The Polish-Dutch Cultural Society, promoting Tuwim’s artistic works and works by other artists inspired by it.
